Overall purpose of role

The ETL Technical Lead)role is to plan, coordinate, and
technically supervise activities related to the design, development, testing,
deployment and support and maintenance of new, or existing, Barclay’s software
applications and information systems especially the Barclaycard US ETL, Data
and Big Data layer.

Skills required hands on are:
Technically Lead a team of software designers, developers and
testers under the Agile Scrum methodology ensuring defect free deliverables in
the ETL, Data and Big Data areas.

Lead production support teams.

Train and develop staff to ensure full development of their potential.

To leverage the use of agreed supply chain resources, ensuring
that all third party resources are integrated into the Barclays BCUS
application development team, with an agreed communication and reporting line.

To deliver an application, or upgrade to an application, that will
each deliver benefits of strategic importance to a business area or group of
business areas. Handle Production Support.

To deliver medium scale and relatively low-complexity change into
business areas with a smooth transition into BAU operations, whilst ensuring
agreed benefits are realised.

Responsible for the integration of new and modified applications
onto the wider Barclays Systems landscape

Responsible for ensuring the appropriate application development
methods are selected and adhered to throughout the supply chain

To have understanding of the Credit Card Domain.

Be a role model for BCUS staff through excellent leadership,
clarity of technology vision and effective decision making.

Key Accountabilities

Relationship Management


Developing and maintaining strong
relationships across BCUS organisation ensuring effective delivery of
applications into the production environment.


Liaising, and working closely,
with the BCUS Project Manager, keeping the Project Manager updated on progress
against milestones, risks, issues and budget control.


Agreeing the application
development design, build and test strategy with the CIO Group Leads, Project
Managers (and Project Board where appropriate).


Collaborating with the application
support areas to ensure smooth transition of applications into their BAU


Ensuring the effective development
of robust, effective applications, or application changes, as defined by the BS


Managing on a day to day basis the
application development resources (designers, programmers and testers) within
the team including Barclays staff, 3


party suppliers and
non-people resources e.g. licences, hardware.


Ensuring all third party resources
are fully integrated into the application delivery team, with clear reporting
and communication lines to the Barclays Application Development Manager.


Managing change control and
configuration management for the application development elements of the BCUS
project and deciding on the outcome of impact assessments, recommending the
appropriate way forward to key stakeholders.


Ensuring all BCUS Application
Delivery governance and performance measures and standards are adhered to.

Transition into Run/Production


Managing the successful delivery
of applications into the production environment, including the design of, and
transition to, the application support strategy.


Provision of technical application
development guidance and support to the BCUS project, on all application
related issues.


Satisfactory resolution of
application-related service incidents during change delivery and warranty


Integration of the application
into the wider Barclays Systems landscape
