About Barclays Africa Corporate Technology

Corporate Technology serves the Technology needs of Corporate Banking business for the 12 Barclays Africa countries across Core banking, Online and Offline Channels.

Overall purpose of role

Responsible for the overall management control and delivery of business and IT projects. Is accountable for creating project deliverables that meet or exceed the expectations of the project stakeholders. This includes managing changes to the size or scope of those deliverables. Directs, manages and co-ordinates team members, including those from suppliers and external vendors.

Key Accountabilities

Program Management 90 – 100%

·

Exercise overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the Programme to plan, budget and agreed quality and governance standards

·

Manage the lead supplier in line with agreed contractual obligations, milestones and quality standards.

·

Provide day to day direction to the project team and manage a budget of £0.25 – 5 million (pre-cap).

·

Work with the Technology Partner/Programme Manager to deliver effective communications and manage relationships with key stakeholders at executive and direct reports' levels across the Project Client base and technical community, ensuring continued buy-in to the Project

·

Own and drive the Project planning framework, ensuring that plans are developed and tracked to appropriate standards, are integrated effectively across all work-streams, are unambiguous and achievable, and that dependencies are clearly understood and managed

·

Own and drive the effective governance of the Project, via the Project Management Office, ensuring that Bank technical, risk and other standards and compliance requirements are met and that the Project governance framework is comprehensively defined and firmly embedded across all areas of the Project

·

Manage and co-ordinate projects, their interdependencies, and associated risks and issues, escalating to the Technology Partner/Programme Manager as appropriate to ensure project delivery

·

Control the Project scope, ensuring that rigorous change control is exercised.

·

Ensure the integrity of the Project - focusing inwardly on the internal consistency of the Project; identify interfaces / alignment with other technology

·

and business initiatives including Programme/Projects, business as usual and specialist technical or service standards to the Technology Partner or Programme Manager

·

Ensure the Project resource plan is maintained and met and that appropriately skilled and experienced individuals are appointed in line with delivery plans.

·

Actively manage supplier resources and identify issues to the Technology Partner/Programme Manager for resolution

·

Ensure delivery of the platform and service meet requirements and that acceptance and handover to business as usual are managed against agreed acceptance criteria and to a defined plan.

·

Ensure that integrity is maintained by taking a best practice approach to development and implementation of Production change to support additional capability

·

Ensure that all Project status reporting is accurate, informative and timely, and directly provide progress reports to the Technology Partner/Programme manager and Programme/Project governance forums at agreed intervals

·

Escalate for management intervention wherever gaps in the Programme/Project are identified or issues arise

·

Provide on-going monitoring of the Project to confirm that delivery meets the Project's objectives and continues to make effective use of available funds and resources

Line Management (if required) – 10%

·

Acts as focal point for direct reports with regard to HR and work issues.

·

Ensures Barclays governance is followed for all directs (KYR etc)

·

Actively identifies development needs with the individual and provides support for ensuring their development plan is met

·

Acts as an advocate for the direct report in consistency meetings and is aware of any issue with their performance

·

Actively demonstrates Barclays Behaviours and encourages this behaviour in direct reports

Essential

·

Project experience ( 6+ years) ideally within the financial services sector

·

Must have a track record of managing business or technical Projects

·

Project mobilisation / initiation / planning experience in addition to management of established Projects

·

Must be able to demonstrate good stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills, with strong personal credibility

·

Experience of managing business change/transformation challenges

·

Practical understanding of delivering change Programme/Projects into ITIL based organizations

·

Demonstrable record of managing Project budgets effectively, and delivering within budgetary constraints

Preferred

·

Financial services industry experience

·

Ability to manage and deliver Project scope in a business that is undergoing a high degree of organisational and strategic change.

·

Formal external qualification/accreditation to Prince II or PMI methodologies, or at least experience of Prince II/PMI in a project environment.

·

Willingness to undertake the required training where no formal

·

PMI/Prince accreditation is held

·

Willingness to learn the relevance of ITIL on delivery of projects to a service environment.

Stakeholder Management and Leadership

Ability to manage Senior Stakeholders who would mostly consist of Corporate banking Business, Product Managers and Senior Technology partners.

Candidate should be able to understand, articulate and manage stake holder expectations around technology deliverables.

Decision-making and Problem Solving

The candidate should be able to understand the problem and recommend / influence the appropriate solution with the senior SMEs in the team.

Risk and Control Objective [This section is mandatory for all role profiles and must not be deleted]

Ensure that all activities and duties are carried out in full compliance with regulatory requirements, Enterprise Wide Risk Management Framework and internal Barclays Policies and Policy Standards

Person Specification

·

Professionally trained in Project Management – PMP Certified.

·

Adequate experience in Project Management with expertise in Analysis, Design and Development of Software Systems and managing software projects for Core banking and Channels.

·

Demonstrated to communicate with senior management and handle external clients/consultants.

·

Good Team player with ability to lead with “Can do” Attitude.

·

Strong Analytical and problem solving skills.

·

Strong experience in client presentation.

·

Worked on full SDLC cycle.

·

Travel Experience preferred

·

Banking experience (some functional knowledge)

·

Ability to manage multiple projects
