Overall purpose of role
The Application Development team in Pune predominantly supports the International Private Bank business and operations teams situated in UK, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East. This is an exciting opportunity to work with the Avaloq interfaces to assist Barclays Wealth to expand further into these international areas.
Will be responsible for the delivery of quality solutions across multiple software development projects. They will be skilled in their technical field with relevant experience of the techniques and tools being used. They will work on all phases of software development within a project as a team member:
Working with business areas to obtain and clarify detailed technical requirements; Designing, coding and unit testing software components for new or enhanced IT systems to a high level of quality;
Providing technical support to Development leads and Business Analysts; developing an in-depth awareness of relevant software design /development tools and processes, with the aim of providing technical assistance to support their assignment area.
Rapidly learn WEALTH/BARCAP applications.
Rapidly learn the Wealth Management and Investment Banking domain.
Ability to perform end to end business requirement analysis.
Providing low level technical design of solutions across different modules.
Coding and unit testing of the solution.
Work with testers to verify the solution.
Rework defects and take part in defect analysis
Stakeholder Management and Leadership
Assist in the identification, management and resolution of any software-related Risks, Assumptions, Issues and Dependencies (RAIDs) that may impact UK RBB.
Track work and report progress to team leader on a timely basis
Proven experience in Communication to Key Stakeholders, Clients, Management and Peers
Presenting daily succinct feedback orally and written on progress of projects to key stakeholders within the business. Providing daily updates and resolving conflicts across various components teams.
Must have a proven track record in managing complex IT Infrastructure requirements and application functionality, with the ability to portray the key messages back to the business that can be understood.
Maintain a strategic view over the set of projects, providing the framework for implementing initiatives, or large-scale change
Tracking of key milestones and associated responsibilities
Develop dependency network showing the dependencies between projects
Manage business requirements to understand how system requirements fit within overall business solution. The ability to challenge and negotiate any requirements that are incomplete or do not provide sufficient clarity to support effective software development with the key stakeholders in the business
Manage requirements to understand how they will be tested following production of code
Planning and coordination of related projects in order to reduce the unsupported risk to the bank
Decision-making and Problem Solving
Understand the various phases of the software development lifecycle
Undertake impact assessment of change requests against applications / products within domain
Create/Review component designs & builds to ensure compatibility with the end-to-end system design
Create/Review test strategies to guarantee the quality of the delivered system, assist in the diagnosis of system problems encountered during testing
Collaborate with other component design and build teams, ensuring that end-to-end system design is followed
Ensure that technical engineering quality standards / benchmarks are met, taking remedial action where there are quality shortfalls
Complete technically-complex assignment work to budget, time and quality requirements
Document all work in accordance with agreed standards, and with re-use in mind
Where system development is part of a wider set of interdependent systems changes, collaborate with the Systems Designers from the other areas to ensure end-to-end technical integrity of the development, leading this collaboration when required

End-to-end software development lifecycle
Software development methodologies, e.g. waterfall, agile
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Ablility to work well with developers in multiple locations and across other teams
Awareness of leading-edge tools, techniques and services within IT
Software development consisting of some of the following languages and technologies:
Frameworks like spring, hibernate.
Web service - SOAP and REST
Angular framework, Twitter bootstrap.
Knowledge of Apache camel will be added advantage.
Application servers (JBoss, Apache Tomcat)
Version Control Software (SVN / Git)
Maven, Jira, Confluence, Jenkins, Sonar
